Tracks Plans for Ultimate Racer 3.0

The nightlund racetrack is my first fixed track complete with scenery and computer integration. It's still a work in progress as there are so many details I would like to add :). The track in scale 1:32 and has two lanes. It's build with SCX Analog tracks and supports most analog slot cars. I added a bridge to the layout to increase the max amount of track, and it also looked great. I'm currently working on the pitgarage (with doors that can open) and adding some nice panels to the side of the baseboard to improve the overall visual impression.

The Technical Stuff

Track Power:

Each lane has its own powersupply to ensure a steady powerflow to each of the cars. The racesoftware can also control the power to the track through two relays. Using this feature it is possible to stop the race on yellow flag and stopping the power to the individuel tracks on false starts.

Lap Counting:

The lap counter is made with phototransistors and a lightbridge above them. A lap counter really increase the possibilites with the track. Laptimes, racecontrol and so on.

The Control Board:

The connection to the computer is made with an Arduino board.

Starting Lights:

The track currently features a starting light moduel above the track mounted on the light bridge. This moduel mimiks the starting light on the computer screen on race starts. It also indicates yellow flags.

2017-07-24: All of the tiles are on the floor and I'm waiting for them to dry so I can finish the walls.
